Overview
The new Chemikum building complex, with 10,000 m² floor space, was built on the south grounds at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. The Chemikum consists of two four-story building blocks with laboratory rooms, a six-story connecting building with lecture halls and three entrance halls span these buildings.
The university required a high quality solution for the highly sensitive area of the laboratories. The system should not only be able to provide a constant supply of fresh air, but also do so with the highest possible energy efficiency and reliability.
Our Solution
HUBER & RANNER was commissioned to manufacture and supply 10 supply air units as well as sections of the exhaust air units for the highly demanding laboratory area. The systems, which comply with the hygiene requirements of VDI 6022, have an air output of up to 50,000 m³/h and a combined total volume flow of around 250,000 m³/h. Highly efficient KVS closed-loop systems for heat and cold recovery are used in 8 of the 10 systems.
Design Points
Energy-efficient KVS energy recovery system achieves a dry heat recovery efficiency of around 74%. |
Controlled adiabatic exhaust air cooling can further enhance energy recovery of the KVS system in summer months |
